In recent years, a common federally sponsored health plan has come under increasing scrutiny. Medicare Part C, better known as Medicare Advantage (MA), is a program that allows private health insurance companies to administer Medicare coverage to eligible beneficiaries in place of traditional Medicare (TM). These plans are made to seem attractive by including additional benefits, but often unknown to the enrollees are potentially meaningful disadvantages which may limit the ability to obtain timely care. Since this can potentially impact the care that neurointerventionalists provide to patients, it is important for this community to understand the issues.
