As the new Associate Editors of Patient Engagement and Education at Trauma Surgery & Acute Care Open (TSACO), we are honoured to comment on the important article by Mahajan et al titled ‘Content assessment and readability of online injury prevention resources on firearm safety: a cross-sectional analysis of hospital and national injury prevention literature’.1 While firearm safety often centers on advocacy and legislation, this manuscript highlights a broader and critical issue: healthcare literacy.1
