An 86-year-old woman was admitted to the emergency department under stroke code protocol due to sudden onset of speech impairment 3 hours before. She had a history of hypertension, hyperlipidaemia, a previous left hemispheric ischaemic stroke and hypothyroidism. Her usual medications included aspirin 100 mg daily.
