We read with interest Erdem et al’s1 study on the effect of erector spinae plane (ESP) block on postoperative nausea in lumbar discectomy. The authors are to be commended for emphasizing nausea—an often neglected, yet meaningful patient-centered outcome. However, we believe that several methodological and conceptual issues might limit the interpretability and external validity of this study.
