What is lifestyle medicine? It’s a massive hit on social media, where it seems to have captured the zeitgeist of a generation of doctors who are noticing, rightly, that many chronic health conditions are preventable—and that interventions that don’t require a prescription can be as least as good as medication. There are now societies and certificates for training and practising it. It has popular appeal, and not just with doctors. Wikipedia calls it a “branch of medicine focused on preventative medicine and self-care.” The “pillars” include sleep, nutrition, exercise, social connections, and stress management.
