Letters to the editor by Albeniz and Montori and Bhandari et al: authors’ response

We are delighted by the lively interest our randomised study has received in the Gut letters section.1–3 We wonder whether positive studies tend to attract somewhat less critical scrutiny. Regardless, we are pleased to note the common ground we share with the authors of both letters and their own randomised trials on bleeding prevention: in a smaller RCT focused on ESD, Bhandari et al observed that PuraStat does not alter the delayed bleeding rate.4 With Albéniz et al’s group, we share a relatively high rate of minor haemostatic interventions (53%) prior to clip closure.5
