This issue of Medical Humanities presents several studies that cut across time, discipline and form, but converge on a question that is too often ignored in both policy and clinical culture: who cares for women’s health? And who, when caring systems fail, is held accountable? From literary and psychoanalytical analyses to protest and performance, these papers insist that health is not simply a matter of bodies; health, and women’s health especially, is a cultural and ethical frontier, shaped by language, memory, creativity and systems of power. It is also a place where listening can be radical, and silence can be violent.
