Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a prevalent chronic respiratory disease and currently the third leading cause of death worldwide.1 Pulmonary rehabilitation is a highly effective, guideline-recommended treatment for COPD which improves exercise capacity, relieves symptoms, enhances quality of life and reduces hospitalisations.2 The traditional means of delivering pulmonary rehabilitation requires patients to attend a hospital or rehabilitation centre two to three times weekly for 6–8 weeks.3 Despite its proven benefits, pulmonary rehabilitation participation rates remain suboptimal, with travel and transportation difficulties commonly cited as significant barriers to uptake and completion.4
