Approximately 80% of individuals with disabilities live in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs—World Bank 2024 Gross National Income per capita less than $4465), with an estimated 60–80 million individuals with disabilities living in Africa.1 Disability has a diverse global impact, compounded in regions where low socioeconomic development presents a myriad of challenges to accessing the benefit of sport and exercise participation, including inaccessible, inequitable and costly healthcare services.2
