A child at Liverpool’s Alder Hey hospital has died of measles.1 The tragic death comes less than a week after medical officials at the children’s hospital warned that cases of the virus were on the rise, severely endangering the health of some of those affected. The hospital has reported treating 17 children since June.1 And measles cases have been on the rise in recent years. In 2024 there were 2 911 laboratory confirmed cases of measles in England, the highest numbers since 2012.2
