TCCACS and MDR 2026 introduction

This is our third year partnering with the editors of Trauma Surgery and Acute Care Open (TSACO) to publish selected presentations from the annual Mattox Trauma, Critical Care, and Acute Care Surgery (TCCACS) and Medical Disaster Response (MDR) conferences held at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA. The quality and relevance of the presentations do not disappoint. During the preceding years, exciting changes have been introduced, altering the national and international standards for trauma, surgical critical care, acute care surgery, and medical disaster response. The articles collected in this volume reflect not only the state of the science in 2026, but also the spirit of innovation and critical questioning that has long characterized this meeting. Each of these articles has been selected to advance the acute care surgeon’s practice.
