Type 1 diabetes (T1D) impacts around 9.5 million people (1.9 million people under 20) across the world and is a leading chronic health condition impacting those under the age of 18.1 As the condition is lifelong and requires exogenous insulin following diagnosis, it is also classified as a hidden disability in the UK, under the Equality Act 2010. However, when it comes to sport and exercise, mainstream participation is this community’s only option.2
