We read with interest the commentary by Ashton JJ et al.1 Paediatric inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) may persist into adulthood, underscoring the importance of identifying factors that may influence disease development early in life.2 Therefore, we aimed to investigate the risk of IBD in children born to women infected with influenza during pregnancy.
